Today is Yuan Xiao Jie [元宵节], the fifteenth day of the first Lunar month and also the last day of Chinese New Year Celebration.
Yuan Xian is also known as the Lantern Festival. In the past, folks celebrated the festival by going to the temple and streets at night, solving riddles hang from the lanterns [猜灯谜]and eating tang yuan [汤圆] with family.
In my family, we celebrate Yuan Xiao by gathering together for a good steamboat dinner and some wine.
It happens this year’s Yuan Xiao Jie coincides with St. Valentine’s Day. Yuan Xiao is sometimes said to be the Chinese Valentine’s Day.
So on this festive day, I would like to wish you a day filled with love, not just romantic love, but also the love of family and friends, the love of life and the love of self. Happy Yuan Xiao Jie and Happy Valentine. \(^_^)/
This Sunday I’ll be attending this festival with a few friends. This is my first time though they are regular. We have been preparing for it for a couple of weeks or so…I’m getting excited about it.
How about you? If you are in Singapore, why not come down with your camera and have fun? You can find more details if you click on the logo below.
See the flag and flyer my friend has made for me. He’s such a talented guy. In fact, he is putting up a few items for the festival. And they are good. We will also have a small sale booth selling what we enjoy making. Do come and give us your support!
Kagura is modelling one of nekomimi (cat ears) accessories I have made for the sale booth. She looks cute, doesn’t she?
These are the accessories I have made for the event. Hair clips, cat ears, rabbit ears, shawl, brooch….all to match your girls’/boys’ kimono/yukata. They are only a few of them and all at low prices. Come down to the festival and get them before they are all sold out. \(^_^)/ And for friends who have liked my Facebook page, I will give you a discount of $1.00 for your purchases as my appreciation for your support.
So, what are you waiting for? See you at the EOY this Sunday! It’s going to be fun! ~~~ヾ(＾∇＾) ー♪

Finally. It was time to make our way there. As expected. The MRT was packed with elderly, pregnant mothers, kids, adults, teenagers, tourists and ……. characters from the anime!!! p(*＾-＾*)q This was like a once-a-year when the gate between the two worlds, real and anime, opens and their folks mingle and visit each other. What a sight!
This year the turnout seemed to be bigger than the last. The event hall was packed. Even the ground around the hall was overtaken by people: cosplayers, their supporters, photographers and curious onlookers.
It was a little disappointing for me though. The things I wanted, like the Nendoroid Kuroyukihime, were sold out. It was only the second day! (；_・）
These were some of the new Gundam, figures and nendoroid on display.
And of course, the DDs! Such a big group! See! Kagura’s standing there in her red kimono and helping to display the hats I had done up for the event. Such a sweet helper. (^_^)
There were a few other types of dolls too: ball-jointed (bjd) and Azone girls but the majority were DDs. It’s like in a dream seeing so many of them.
A pity I didn’t manage to take more photos. Maybe next year, I should plan to go on the first day instead. (＾□＾*)
Yap! We are going to the Anime Festival Asia (AFA) 2012 this Saturday.
Kagura will be dressed up for the event. She has two outfits ready and I have not decided which yet. I will also bring some of the hats I have done. In fact, I have jazzed them up with new flowers, feathers, ribbons etc. They will all be on display with the other Dollfie Dreams at the Fujiwara Yukino stall.
Here is a sneak preview of the hats:
If you are interested, email me to make arrangement.
Meantime, see you there! Oh! K is one of the featured anime! \(ˆoˆ)/
Human beings seem to have a certain fascination with the dead regardless of culture.
We just had the Hungry Ghost Festival held during the lunar seventh month. It was a month-long fare of “歌台” [getai; concert-like performance held on temporarily constructed stage], dinner banquets and burning of incense and paper offerings to the dead. Now with the end of October approaching, I see stores selling costumes and decor for Halloween and restaurants putting up Halloween parties.
Generally, I have no interest in the dead and horrors. But I find the anime/manga characters dressed up as little sexy devils, cute black cat, handsome wizard and hot mummies in the wallpapers and graphic books cute.
Thus, when they wanted to dress up for Halloween for the fun of it, I was very willing to dress them up. In anime style. (*^_^*)
Here they are. Aren’t they cute?
